If Ampex has more than 50% now they would have the same amount after the IPO. Just as you stated. A certain amount would go to the founders of the formerly private company. The rest sold. But how much goes to Ampex from the sale of new shares could go entirely to Ampex if they so vote that way with their shares. Doubt they would do that but if I owned 60% of the company I would expect at least 60% of the revenue.

LOL...Read that at a young age. Absolutely loved that book - have never encountered its match for pure mythic arc epic story telling ( though I have known many who hated it...lol....I bet I would still enjoy Tolkien). Like Ampex, the story behind the story behind the story etc..... illuminates the tale.
