Well, actually it doesn't really matter...some use the 34 period EMA for intraday...so use 30 day weighted or 30 SMA...but I read Linda Raschke's book amazon.com and found here methods interesting and she uses the 20EMA and the 14 period ADX..and I found it works well with my trading style..in fact the 20EMA is very much like the 30 Weighted MA that I used before...it's all a guide...so anything that is close to containing price action in one's time frame will do.
