All this talk about the float, trash hauling, BAT
terminal, and lawsuit goes way over my head. I think
the real promise to making money with this operation is
that they are the best way to move rail cars to NY City
from everywhere south and west of New Jersey. From 15 years
ago I recall a car float operation working out of Little
Creek, VA (bordering on Norfolk, VA) which connected to
Cape Charles across the Chesapeake Bay. They ran all
hours of the day and night. It's my hope that someone
at Norfolk and Southern recognized the obvious and realized
that the shortest distance between NYC/Long Island and North
Jersey is a strait line. It seems a shame that our company
isn't making money by the trainload yet. Maybe this deal
with N&S will change that.
