Steve, a much more defensible stance! Although you may have been separate from rrman, you were happy enough to make it sound as if there were little rationale except enforcing conformity and allowing exploitation, and to dismiss many persons of intelligence as imbeciles who had no idea of what they were doing, and who were probably macho jerks to boot, if not utterly venal. Now, at least, you acknowledge that there was a strategic vision behind a lot of this (even if you consider it flawed), and that there may have been seriousness of purpose in these exertions (even if you think it too self- righteous and arrogant).
