Who pays the piper? and how much?

Many posters seem intent on pegging a dollar/share value of WebMd or other PTEK internet holdings onto the current share price of PTEK's common shares.

I make money when I sell something that has appreciated in value. Then come the following April I have a capital gain and have to pay taxes on the gain.

Do you suppose that you can value these golden nuggets without factoring in for future taxes?

I'm all for exuberance when tempered with a dose of reality. I sold my common on the way down at 19.5 today. Pocketed some profit and leveraged the remaining funds with call option buys on the hope that more exuberance will follow in the next month.

I hope all your excitement is warranted...but don't be surprised if HLTH drifts down and PTEK deflates with it.

IMO, the best development is the spotlight now on PTEK, and the collateral excitement and buying that will come from the analogies people with draw between PTEK and outfits like SFE and CMGI as they due their due diligence.

My opinion only...of course.

Mike

BTW (and off-topic), did anyone watch the related action in SBTK today? Here is a company that is leveraging expertise in telemedicine toward the virtual hospital room, where medical equipment linked via modem from a patient's home environment (no expensive hospital bed), can regulate med infusions, and other monitoring remotely.
