Let me quote from a Gilder article published in Forbes in October 1997 :

"Last year, National purchased the rights to the CMOS photoreceptor invented by the legendary Carver Mead of Cal Tech and Synaptics."

That would place the purchase around 1996 - three years ago.

My money says the project is going nowhere - since Halla has pissed away over a Billion Dollars on Cyrix and Cyrix losses - and probably STARVED this FOVEON project to death.
