Aloha,

Jack Ripkin, an analyst, just mentioned on CNBC this morning that AOL may be facing stiff competition in EUROPE since British Telecom is now offering free internet access.

I remember in 1996, the high cost of accessing the internet thru AOL
with my monthly fees approaching $200-300 per month. The Internet
fees have really dropped, and its hard to imagine that they could drop further. In my area its easy to find $10-$14 per month now.

I guess if one of the big boys like ATT or Worldcom wants to get really aggressive, I guess they could reduce costs further, just hard
to believe since costs are now quite reasonable. Well if it does happen it would be good for the consumer which is what counts.

Just another example of the competitiveness that the internet companies(ISP) could get, that will eventually reduce profit margins down the road.
