LONDON, May 21 (Reuters) - Shares in British Internet
services company VirtualInternet.net Plc rocketed 42 pence, or
17.7 percent, within minutes after it announced a partnership
deal with Internet gateway company Yahoo Inc <YHOO.O>.
The agreement allows VirtualInternet to promote their
services, including domain name registration, web site hosting
and electronic commerce applications, exclusively through the
Yahoo! email service and on a number of Yahoo! Web site channels
in the UK and France.
VirtualInternet has similar partnerships with AOL and
CompuServe in Europe.
"Our partnership with Yahoo! will give Virtual Internet
access to thousands of new internet users who are coming online
for the first time through Yahoo's free ISP service," Jason
Drummond, Virtual Internet's chief executive, said.
