And I whole heartedly agree with you in the British lack of commitment. However, as Motorola, Ericsson and Nokia are also backing the Symbian venture there is a chance of success. Not to mention the likely future break up of MSFT, but our dear Bill Gate$ is already taking action against that by buying into all sorts of communication companies of late.

Billy Boy may even attempt a buy out of Psion if he sees a threat.
BTW - the British don't lack for entrepreneurial skills. You just dont see them. e.g. The Cambridge ring houses a respectable number
of small outfits of the SD Telecom valley mould - Psion, ARM etc
One you won't have heard of is Technology Partnership, who have a lock on the GSM protocol stack market.

BTW the full name of that quaint little bunchof islands across the pond is the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
