HF--- Have you ever seen the old movie "Suddenly Last Summer", original script by Tennessee Williams, screenplay by Gore Vidal? It stars Katherine Hepburn, Montgomery Clift, and Elizabeth Taylor. Anyway, a character in it talks about a trip to the Galapogos Island. He sees a massive number of turtle eggs on the beach, and then a large flock of birds comes along, grabs a number of eggs, and smashes them wantonly on the rocks. There is no obvious purpose, such as the relief of hunger.He says:"I saw the face of God, cruel and mysterious..." or words to that effect. Nature does not work according to human values, and for every beautiful scene there are powerful contradictions, like piranhas, hurricanes, and leprosy...
