I posted it in the jocular vein of the thread. (If you check back, the sensibility here is mostly humor with an occasional rant or two.)

Chris, God's truth: Never when I could have won an argument with tears have I been able to cry! When I was a teenager, during the abominable stage, my mother would resort to tears as part of the maneuvering: I'd yawn and ask her to turn off the faucet.

I used to be a real sucker for a man's tears.

Now with both sexes I try to discern what is part of the arsenal and what's real. And even when the tears are genuine, it does not make what the person who is crying about valid.

One can comfort the tears and still know that the issues have not changed, that there is a fundamental divide.
