ph, it really does make sense. There's an "accelerating push to next-generation 0.18 micron technology". The company's named "Micron Technology". Bingo!!! <g> From the same outlet that reported that Samsung is considering entering the memory chip business. Hey, come to think of it, by the transitive property of absurdity... ...if the global market leader in memory chips is "considering" entering the memory chip business, that probably means the rest of the memory chip players, "laggards" that they are, haven't even considered entering the memory chip business yet. So imagine what will happen when memory chip manufacturers like LG/Hyundai, NEC, Infineon, et. al., actually begin considering entering the memory chip business? Maybe they could come up with a piece that reads something like:If you thought the DRAM market could not go any lower, be prepared for Journey to the Center of the Earth. There is increasing evidence that memory chip manufacturers including Samsung, Micron Technology, recently-merged LG/Hyundai, NEC, Infineon, are all seriously considering entering the memory chip business. Evidence is mounting that these are not merely rumors. According to an official at an unnamed memory chip manufacturer, the signs are everywhere. "This was just some skunkworks skylarking for us," he says. "We had this old line, we played around with stuff, and the next thing we know we're one of the top 5 global memory chip vendors". The official says the addition of new office furniture and the fact that they are now on the company-wide e-mail distribution list means someone over at corporate must be paying attention. The potential for DRAM chips is huge. Experts in the industry predict that one day, DRAM's may be actually displace teams of small mice with very good memories presently ensconced within the majority of the world's computers... <g> Good trading, Tom
