This is on topic, but the long way ‘round, and from the Pali Buddhist “take.” Some may wish to skip.

As most of you probably know, or could guess, Pali is based on kama (Sanskrit: karma). What most of you probably do not know is that there are many versions of what kama is. One is the Western: For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. The Christian view is “Do as ye would be done unto.” The Hindu's have several others. The Pali view is called “Downbound Confounded Rebounding Conjuration.” This view holds that the rebound from an action depends on the power of the Actor, the power of the Action, and the power of the Recipient of the Action. It further holds that the rebound is more or less never-ending (certainly not an eye for an eye) (an individual act of kama which is not dealt with does reach a point where its effects are unnoticeable; and the point of the Pali is to overcome the subjective effects of kama altogether, but we are dealing here with a situation within the reach of kama). The mechanism of action is also not random, it is conditioned. People do what they remember having done because they experienced pleasant consequences from previously having done it and they wish to repeat that pleasant sensation (for those who are thinking this through, this can get very convoluted, such as in the case of an individual faced with extinction who will find any form of living, even the most hellish of existences, preferable to the void); and, as well, for the same reasons, they believe they know how to accomplish their ends. Thus for the most part what we see in the world is an endless repetition of events circling round their perpetrators. Downbound to what has been Confounded (that is made up, not damned, although the pun is intended) in the past, the Conjured future Rebounds (returns in more or less the same way) conjoining one to itself.

That is the basis for the view that we at this present time have enough information to make a fair guess as to what Ed Bramson will do to accomplish his vision. He has shown us, now repeatedly, that his method is to take a 20% stake first, then consolidate his position after a time (and after criteria we do not know have been met). We also know that certain institutions have taken about a 20% stake in Ampex. Who is the student, and who is the teacher? My guess is that the move in TVontheWEB is in fact a foreshadowing of the next move: A taking of a substantial position in Ampex by a consortium of large institutions that already have positions.
