w molloy,

You have to remember that GSM is the predominant cellular technology every where expect the good old U.S. of A. I wouldn't expect anything less at this point in time. Of course, this could change as new breakthroughs come about.

Cheers,

Steve

I believe it. WCDMA (or whatever it will be called) is expected
to peacefully coexist, in it's own spectrum, beside GSM until
the GSM systems can no longer be upgraded and/or have been
effectively depreciated to a zero dollar value.

So sayeth Mika, and also the Real Orange Peel.
And I think JGOREN believes this also.

In high density cities, where GSM systems are saturated with users,
I believe that CDMA overlays will supplement GSM.

In areas where no current coverage exists, then I would not attempt
to bet which systems (GSM, TDMA, or CDMA) will be chosen.

The folks with the budgets and/or political influence will most
likely make those decisions.
So it wouldn't hurt to own a good CDMA supplier/patent holder, and one or two good GSM/TDMA/CDMA system integrator/cell phone makers.

So anyway, I wouldn't entirely agree that it's a kick in the "ouch !"
sack for CDMA after all. Rather than that, I think it's just the
natural progression of technology.

How we follow (and adjust to) this progression, will determine who will retire early like Wise Ole Maurice :-)) ...

Them's just my opinions.

Best,

Mardy
