After the turmoil of the past many months I took notice of Nettles' somewhat more optimistic forward looking guidance. CIEN has been careful to guide to the conservative since last fall. Yesterday's guidance seems somewhat more upbeat. I think they have it right and I see acceleration in this space. A lot made on YAHOO thread about the Lucent announcement yesterday and possible negative impact on CIEN. My view is that the Lucent annoucement, though obviously timed to have a dilutive effect on CIEN earnings announcement and con-call, is great news. If there is a rush to build out the telecommuncations network around the world then there is no one company that can support it all. Lucent, Nortel, CIEN, TLABS, and others will get significant business going forward. Also, IMO, it makes CIEN even more attractive to a suitor that wants a piece of the action. I am open to critical thought. Anyone else agree or not? JG
