John Works, welcome and an excellent post.

By the power vested in me, I select this post as play of the day and hope you come back often with such lucid observations.

In the mean time, I have a few questions. I see you are a member of SI longer than I am. How long you have been lurking here? Also, you said:

"fine board?" I guess these are OK with you: -g-

(Let's see if b.fleck catches on :P)

Trouble in fixed-income markets?... We talked the other day about emerging-market credit spreads widening. That continues to be the case and, in fact, my friend Jerry Stanewick, a shrewd observer of the fixed-income market, said: "Demand for liquidity is at the LPCM October extremes...agency paper got whacked...Fed bias has large accounts liquidating corporate paper." So it appears that beneath the surface of the fixed-income markets there is some trouble brewing, as we can see.

The following numbers confirm your observations and
may if fact be driving it to some extent.

Message 9664408

Imagine the timing issues involved in the following as
spreads widen once again.
