hdrjr, That is a hilarious story! I was watching a presentation of the Acuff Funds today, and this particular manager said that earnings will drive the market over the next twelve months-listed SLB as one of five picks that will deliver that earnings growth....

And I'll offer another true - and hilarious- story. About ten years ago in the Gulf of Mexico there was a field worker who toured and maintained a series of MOS's (minimal operating structure- basically just a tripod and a well head with a ladder) and unmanned platforms as his job- a lonely job.

Well while on one structure in the E Lake Pelto/Terrebonne Bay Area while admiring the view he decided to drop trousers and whack off just for the heck of it while standing on the top deck which is about 45-50 feet above the water.

Which he proceeded to do- but unfortunately while heavily engaged in activity he did not notice that he was standing with his back too close to the edge of the platform. A strong gust of wind caught him and he fell overboard 40 feet into the Gulf of Mexico breaking both legs and knocking him silly.

He was found by a subsequent supply boat and fished out of the water with his pants still down recounting his tale. He then proceeded to file a lawsuit against the oil company claiming loss of consortium with his wife due to oil company's "negligent failure to provide sufficient safety netting around unmanned platforms while engaged in reasonably probable recreational activity".

Needless to say the company attorneys could not wait to deposition him! But he settled quickly for $25,000 and never was depositioned....

"So c) it was. Numerous grappling tools were run. Couldn't use a magnet grapple, as you might for a sledge head, as the hard hat was Aluminum"

Great story...But FWIW Aluminum hats would dissolve with lye quite easily. A little toilet bowl cleaner would have been all that was needed!
