If a short straddle on an internet stock would overly concern me, I would not put one on. I'd collect sufficient prems to warrant the risk/reward and will leg in and out into a combo or strangle if the price action so warrants.

Besides I am long investment shares so my upside risk is covered. However, I would be pissed if I let the shares get called away. Why give up 38-40 percent of my profits on the shares to the IRS just cuz an options trade messed up?

Do you do short straddles?
