Cirruslvr,

A big difference between Merced and K7, is that K7 development has been well ahead of schedule, whereas Merced is years behind schedule.

Cringe - Re: "Since the Merced is a "new core", Intel is clearly having problems getting it production worthy. That should be reassuring to Intel's customers !"

You obviously don't keep up !

Intel has delivered Merced SOftware simulators to all its major customers to develop, test and run their software.

So far, all the customers report good things - 7 or 8 operating systems have been booted and run on the simulator.

They feel real good about that.
