Paul - RE: "The K7 is a SLAM DUNK SUCCESS ALREADY !"

Now, now, get your sports right. On the first of the year, I said this:

"AMD in 1999 -

A little baseball analogy here.

For this to be a very good year, AMD will have to hit for the
cycle.

Single
New Tier 1 OEM - AMD will be racking up sales with this

Double
Timely release of the K6-3 - ASPs will be benefited most with this

Homerun (the most exciting one)
Release of K7 - It will be a shot heard around the world

Triple (the hardest one to attain)
Successful start-up of Dresden AND smooth transition to the .18
process in Austin."

So, next time you wish to compare the K7's success to a sport, please use the baseball analogy. (Hmm, I can't think of a very clever baseball way for you twist the K7 comparison into something 180 degrees from what I wrote. I'll be waiting. ;) )

As we can see, AMD is only 1 for 2. Not good. And Please, don't anyone post that a .500 batting average is good in baseball because in the semiconductor world, or more importantly, when playing Intel, .500 is BAD.
