Pace Micro Uses C-Cube Silicon
London -- Pace Micro Technology plc will use C-Cube Microsystems Inc.'s "AviA" silicon technology in its digital-cable set-top boxes for the United Kingdom.

Pace provides set-tops to the top three U.K. cable operators -- Cable & Wireless Communications, NTL Inc. and Telewest Communications plc -- which will account for about 90 percent of the market's digital boxes.

The C-Cube silicon solution will support two-way networking for delivery of interactive services such as e-commerce over the television.

Digital cable is expected to begin launching in the United Kingdom during the second half of this year
