United Leisure Corp. Subsidiary United Internet Technologies Gets Notice of Allowance on Patent
LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 20, 1999--United Internet Technologies Inc. (UIT), a wholly owned subsidiary of United Leisure Corp. (OTC BB:UTDL - news), Tuesday announced that its patent counsel has been notified by the United States Patent and Trademark Office that one of UIT's applications for a United States patent has been allowed.

The patent relates to the company's Parallel Addressing Video (PAV) technology and Dynamic Integrated Video Overlay (DIVO) technology, which utilizes custom software in a computer system to allow the presenting of multimedia information that is contained on removable media based on the actions of a user using a browser application in interacting with a content provider's Web site.

The PAV and DIVO technologies allow users to display broadcast-quality, full-motion video content on their computers without having to spend time downloading that content over the Internet. The video content may be displayed in a full-screen mode or a windowed mode, and may also be stopped and started. An additional feature allows site operators to place video on top of Web pages. This feature permits programming to allow full-motion video of talent to be placed on an active Web page.

The PAV and DIVO software is installed into the computer system from either a network (e.g., from the content provider's server) or a removable media storage device (e.g., a CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive). The custom software allows the user to access the databases and services of a content provider, and to playback multimedia information (such as audio or video data) based on the user's actions of ''browsing'' the content provider's Web site.

In addition, the user is allowed to select regions in a presented video to trigger additional actions, such as presentation of other multimedia information or further browsing/accessing of a content provider's Web site. The multimedia information resides on removable media that is distributed to the user and placed by the user into the removable media storage device.

By distributing the removable media containing the multimedia information to the user before the user accesses the content provider's Web site, the user would not have to transfer the multimedia information from the content provider's Web site. Instead, the multimedia information will be accessible locally. Thus, the user will not have to endure long download times before being able to enjoy high-quality video and audio.

UIT President and CEO Brian Shuster offers the following statement: ''We are very excited about the notification of allowance from the United States Patent Office. We are now able to protect the company's proprietary assets, and we will vigorously pursue all remedies available at law to stop any company that may now, or in the future, attempt to infringe on our technologies.''

On a separate matter, the company has been served with a complaint by a private company claiming infringement on the private company's video crippling technology. UIT's patent counsel has reviewed the complaint and has advised UIT that the complaint is without merit.
