Goldsnow,

I need some time ro study your reply post. Reading between the lines,I sense honesty and sincere concern for the future of this country. You have brought up so many things and they deserve a considerate response.

As far as I am concerned, you can forget about being "politically correct". This concept was dreamed up ny government toadies in D.C. with nothing better to do. Where I come from, we appreciate a man who tells it like it is.

Best regards,
truedog

Goldsnow... that's very powerful stuff, coming from an emigre born out of Moscow in the '50s (no slight intended). Let me repost in its entirety:

re: "wealth redistribution:"

"That is very complex question....It is very difficult to make oneself (myself in this case) without using politically incorrect rhetoric)For any Foreign Born individual political correctness in English comes with great difficulty, as it does compromise your thought and that can be easily misconscrued as arrogance or lecturing or simply misunderstood...
Ron Reece as true great American can do it with ease, declarations come easy, it is in his blood... proud and drunk from tremendous country with truly phenomenal accomplishments his rhetoric, that on the surface is hard to disagree flows....I too have enormous pride
in this great land, I can't see myself anywhere else....but that where
similarities end....I was born in Moscow in 1956, unlike Chinese on this thread proud to be born in China, Soviet Union was never my motherland, I breathed and lived for the moment to get-out -It was difficult struggle..the absurd and mind-killing and mind-destroying riduculesness of the system drove me nuts for many years, I listened to the BBC, Voice of America, Free Europe every free minute, I guess I still attracted to the internet from that experience, although internet is not jammed with high-voltage as radio on Soviet Union...Sorry for the rumble, but I did achieve in this country so much, that it would never be possible except in dream in any other, but I did not get out of Russia for this reason....

Now to your question, True lets dissect the System, not Great Free Country with free talented spirits that roaming it, system...
we have created most absurd legal system that design to find fault with anyone who has money and try to take some of it...On the surfice
this supports collection of freedoms that we elevated in the name of Liberty....Many retired people, (most do not need public funds) would never give-up hard-fought perks, never mind that they doom their own granchildren to the horrendous debt (they owe 65c on dollar, and they are in kindergarten) We protect rights, never mind the cost of every group that has influence (money to be found by lawyers) without regard to the future..Elaborate nursing homes (no Americans would never take their elderly into their houses, that would undermine quality of life)
Health Care system, Welfare system, all not absurd, app pillars of our liberties, all ignore that it is on credit card, your and my children credit card...I can afford to pay this bill for my kids, not so sure about 95% of give me more grandparents and parents..Our kids are in trouble...We can be proud of our rght to sue and remain on ventilator with terminal cancer, because we do not have to pay, our children are too little to worry...This is great experiment, that can fail mankind as surely as Colonial Power once did..so we continue to find and pile new debts, and our damm juries continue to award millions, after all congress does the same...So it is no longer 65 c debt for children, more like 85 c for grandchildren..The house in 30 years may be paid off, except the taxes would be lot higher on this house than mortgage was and capital must move on, where taxation is less..China?
Right, we re-distributed our future....but we have freedoms, who are you suing tomorrow, True? "

Re:"very complex question" reply #9488

I have already given you my opinion of "political correctness" so, nuff said. If you think English comes with great difficulty to you,I shudder to think of my total ineptness with Russian, or any other language except for rudimentary Spanish. You're doing fine. Don't apologize. I don't sense arrogance or lecturing in your words but, sometimes, do not fully understand.

Ron Reece appears to be very well read with a humongous memory bank and total recall. I envy him that talent.
To have it and not be snobbish is an added bonus.

It is clear that you have experienced much more and suffered much more than I. Even if our opinions differ, I respect you for that.

1. Yes, our legal system is a mess. With a plethora of shyster lawyers, legislators who make laws unreadable by the average person, judges who are appointed for life instead of having to earn them by election and, organizations, such as the A.C.L.U., around every corner trying to get an extra piece of the pie, things have run amok. I don't know the answer and will not live long enough to witness the outcome.

2.In most cases, retired people do not receive any special perks. They collect social security which is their own money collected by the government as a payroll deduction, reduced to 30 cents on the dollar by mismanagment and waste and, held until government specified retirement age. It amounts to a federally enforced savings plan from which most people can never recover their contribution to the plan.

3.Yes, for generations people have lived and spent pell-mell through life with no regard for the future or the debt incurred. Americans are not unique in this respect but, that is no excuse. Some people do take their elderly kin into their homes but, sadly, this is all too rare. People just don't seem to care about other people anymore.

4.Taxes have quite a way to go before exceeding the cost of a home. For instance, if you bought a home for $40,0000 at 8% interest on a 30 year mortgage, you would end up paying $104.386.20. Quite a hit, huh?

I have never sued anyone and don't intend to unless I incur injury or property damage through someone elses' negligence.

Respectfully,
truedog
