I would be compelled by circumstance to go to our Urgent Care facility - not an ER but decently equipped nonetheless. I'd also have to risk the luck of the draw re on-call doctors. For me, the comforting news is that even though cardiac emergencies are serious, the procedures for managing them are straightforward. Spouse is a health care pro so I'd imagine she'd keep an eye open for any really glaring lapses. The minor lapses are part of the job, more or less. I want to repair the impression that I am a merciless perfectionist.
While I trust my own doctor like no other, she is way seriously booked up. For a non-emergent visit I typically wait six weeks. For something more pressing she can often find a coupla minutes for me in a day or two. Some docs won't extend that service, but she will. I hope she doesn't move!
