Yes, CIBC screwed up. And yes, it doesn't take a genius (or you for that matter) to say they are in serious trouble. Will they survive as is, definitely not. Will they survive as a restructured entity, probably in one shape or another. Will current shareholders get anything, who'se to know. See my post number 167 regarding a similar company which restructured and left common shareholders with, at least something. I could quote many other cases. Remember "Magna". And, by the way, don't jump to emotional conclusions and suggest I am "long", I am only playing "devil's advocate" to balance the "doom and gloomers" who are taking the safe, albeit probable, stance that Loewen will, indeed, go under.
