When a company buys computers, they normally buy in large quantities and upgrade the entire company at one time. So, given that pc become "obsolete" within 2 to 3 years, they upgrade on a cyclic basis. The consumer market is really upgrading on a "continuous" basis. For example, today, "x" consumers buy pc's and will upgrade at sometime in the future, tomorrow "y" consumers will buy pc's and upgrade at sometime in the future...etc, etc. So, there really isn't an upgrade cycle for comsumers...unless you want to consider the Xmas buying period as an upgrade cycle.

One interesting thing about Moore's law is that even Gordon Moore said that sooner or later even his law won't apply. Eventually technological enhancements will be doubling every second. <ggg>
