Oh my. Yes, I see what you mean. I did notice that when Spouse went to give birth, the local med personnel were full of questions until Spouse's obstetrician arrived. She'd been seeing him for a while, and he had a pretty good handle on her medical history - which was not without event.

But there's got to be a golden medium between the situation E described and the sort of "customer reliance" currently in place. In my own case - I forget stuff. Potentially important stuff. If I go to a doctor's appointment - I'll often make up a flash card so i won't blank on something worth asking.
