RDM,

Re: Laptop market.

Apparently AMD has captured close to 50% of the laptop market.

As the majority of laptop customers are business/professional users this should be very worrying for intel.

The new mobile KIII's could be a major problem for Intel.

It bodes well for AMD's acceptance into the corporate desktop market with the K7.

Also the broad availibility of the KIII-450's and adoption of the KIII by fujitsu and nec last week is very encouraging.

My only dissapointmnet regarding the mobile KIII's was that they were 0.25 micron, I had been expecting 0.18 parts by now as I thought they were going to start the 0.18 KIII ramp this quarter.

Still a 333/366/380 mobile KIII introduction on Monday - if it happens should be good for another pop in the stock price.

It may also occasion the lemming analysts to give AMD another look.

Next week should be interesting for the stock action.

Regards,

Kash

Good.

What were the brand names of these 8 - besides Compaq?

RDM,

I went to Fry's in Palo Alto yesterday and 8 out of eleven laptops has AMD chips.

I think you might have missed an aisle. I counted 8 out of 18 laptops, and 9 out of 23 desktops this morning.

I'll bet you looked REAL CAREFULLY for any Kmart 63 machines.

Didn't you?

And since you didn't mention SEEING any Kmart 63 machines, you probably DIDN't !

You didn't bother to mention that fact did you?

How many Pentium /// 500 and 500 MHz machines did you see?

Paul
