Why not complain to our Webmistress? BAM (EOM)

Michelle, let me second BAM's suggestion that you complain about II's tactics to Jill, the Webmistress. Her e-mail address appears at the bottom of this page. That's the only way SI can know how many of us were spammed, and how much we resent it. I have already done this and urge the rest of you that resent being spammed to do the same.

Michelle,
You can choose not to have your Email address listed in your profile like I did.

Everyone who has their e-mail address in their profile will get spam. Don't use your main address.

Simple counter measure:

say mine is cheekykid@moon.net

change to cheeky_nospam_kid@moon.net

Most people will know that the _nospam_ is for the automated programs that search for e-mail addresses, and they will omit it.

Post your e-mail address in ANY new / chat group and the spammers will get it. Just a fact of life on the Internet.

Best never to use your main e-mail address in any chat forum. One day you may find hundreds or thousands of e-mail in your box and you may have to change your address to put a stop to it. Happened to me last fall.

about this Individual Investor solicitation

I've got the perfect solution to II mining our user base. Everyone that was asked to join should join. Then ONLY post messages that are links back to your posts on SI (remember to change the talk to www so non-members can read posts)....

...Then when you get that neato baseball cap with II on it, change the first I to an S, so it reads $I!
