Though I am just a lurker thus far, I would urge caution in changing the rules at this point. Your index is sitting at around 2400 and you started out last December at 789. There is lots and lots of room for a 40% decline from here. Also, crashes rarely occur immediately after the peak, there is usually plenty of warning before the event occurs. Even "strangulation" takes a while … until the victim drops dead ;-)
