I get my dander up darn near every time I see one of these aboriginal deals. And I'm going back home next weekend and am being told how bad the fishing is due to this subject.

The Gray whale was taken off the endangered species list back in '94 or so, so they ain't about to drop off the face of the earth, yet. But these Makah jokers had their boat hauled out to the whale by motor vessel, had the Coast Guard spotting for them, were using 50 cal rifles to try and finish off the whale, etc. And these gray whales are damn near pets from all the whale watching that has been going on up there (the Makah haven't hunted them for over 70 years and it has been quite awhile for the commercial boyz too).

Wasn't really a fair hunt but if they only take the 20 allowed thru 2004, I guess it's ok. Although, they will probably end up killing 50 or 60 when you count in the mortally wounded that get away. But I don't want to hear the PR bullshit that they are returning to aboriginal roots.

And if you want to stick up for people that lost everything they had to conquerors go represent poor 'ole Neanderthal Man. That is if you can find him. -g-
