I live in Japan, and I have lived through the past decade of deflation....

It would seem that when the US bubble breaks, the outcome would be deflation. However, would this not be politically intolerable? In Japan, the economy is in many ways still not a completely "free market," and the capitalism is not nearly as "savage" as you have in the US. As a result, here in Japan most people are still employed and living normal lives. The stock market lost 2/3 of its value, but life goes on as normal....

On the other hand, if the US market were to lose 2/3 of its value, I think that the situation would be much worse....

Wouldn't there be pressure to "reinflate" in the US?

One more question....I noticed that you were bullish on a number of commodities such as Pd, Pt and titanium. How would the deflation scenario be bullish for commodities?
