Wayne, while it is true that imports from American subsidiaries are better than foreign owned from a national income perspective and I am aware that US citizen's own foreign shares as well. The salient point is the loss in wages and taxes is huge so i would agree with MB that it is nonsense. consumption of imports helps to undermine the buying power of the middle class. thanks for sticking up for me when Skeeter slimed me :) mike

Wayne, Part of the trade deficit going to American fat cats reminds me of the way a respected oil analyst described Exxon to me back in the days of the energy crisis: "if they could find a way to have all their operations on barges in waters belonging to no country, that is how they would operate." <g>
