thank you for your sharing your memories. the press release explained the 2008 completion date with a statement of how long it had taken them to do the first 10 million lines of code, something like 9-10 years. so when they confessed to discovery of the additional 20 million lines of code i thought maybe they were being optimistic about getting twice as much work done in approximately the same amount of time. could it be that they figured they would have little else to do than fix code after it all grinds to a halt in y2k, and then they could get twice as much in half the time?
