[E-Toy and] these "dot coms" really get me.

Ditto. Compare the market cap and revenue of E-Toy with the same of the major international toy companies. It's truly mind-boggling to see what investors are paying for E-Toy.

I realize that the company could become a portal for children that brings in huge advertising dollars, but these days investors use the portal excuse to justify the valuation of any Net play. Some day investors are going to realize that there are going to be only a relatively few portals around.

Lindy and all,

I wish to propose Apollo Group APOL to the thread, not as a gorilla but maybe a king. It came to me via Value Line and its comments in the business of for profit Knowledge Education.

The business model is very clear in opening new centers and the internet gives them a very cost effective method of distribution.

they currently have approx 8,000 students over the net and are taking it's production in house.

Very good accounts, 25% growth, 11% net profit margin, low depreciation rate and from what I gather a good reputation in its industry.

The Department of Education (DOE) has an inquiry ongoing but it is well explained in current edition of Value Line which you can get at your local library.

Anyone have any direct experience of University Of Phoenix? I would appreciate comments from this thread as I find this collective intelligence (The Thread and its Contributors) to be provoking and stimulative.

Just my opinion, do your own DD, lose your own $$.

Best wishes,

John
