Re: Merchandise Trade Deficit

Arnold,
The Merchandise Trade Deficit is what comes out monthly. The report is for the two months previous to the release date.

It includes, "merchandise," only. It does include, capital goods, industrial materials, consumer goods, agriculture, oil, autos, etc.

It does not include services, investment income, military aid, royalties on inventions - films - music, profit from US companies in foreign countries, shareholder return from US companies who make their money in foreign locations, money made by US citizens from speculation in foreign exchange markets.

A much more comprehensive figure, that includes just about EVERYTHING, is the "Current Account Deficit."

Hope this helps,
MikeM(From Florida)
