taxman...

tax wise, i use option positions to manage my gains and losses...this is quite easy to do by rolling a put forward,at an advantageous time, taking a tax loss, but yet increasing cash position without changing exposure...the bit of the dell i consider selling would be recently purchased shares...the ability to convert and leverage with ditm calls, assuming a quite bullish posture becomes more tempting with the stock trading in a narrow range...the range trade begins to neutralize long term implied volatility....if i sold june calls, would only look at 50 strike or higher...i'm hoping for a renewed awareness in the power of spin by dell management...five years ago media perception was much less of a factor in the driving of markets, if you accept this theory, then it is easy to see why i have been on a soapbox for the past week....nothing to do with reality, for reality has little to do with todays overall market movements...the millennium is bringing a whole different and perhaps illogical pattern in the market...the further the generational gap between analyst and media that had a basic knowledge of the reality of business to what is now transpiring will continue to cause "wierdness"...either play the game or let your stock price lie fallow.....nothing to do with "virtue"...pure p.t. barnum stuff....which in fact deviates from dell "promise little, deliver a lot"...barnum probably the greatest marketing genius of all time....known mostly for the collaboration with bailey....but in essence his credo(paraphrasing)..."get them in the tent with whatever promises. outlandish as they may seem to be...and once in the tent, reward them many times their moneys worth"

you can't deliver value,"real or perceived", unless you get the opportunity.....anybody important at dell reading this..wink,wink,nudge,nudge... mikey, time to invite the market into the dell tent
