i have to disagree with you... phantom menace doesn't even come close to star wars 1,2... maybe somewhat to return of jedi.. but not the
first two..

star wars and empire strikes back I've probably seen 100 times each... I won't go see phantom menace again..

3 stars.. not 4. could have been much better.. that stupid juju bing character was annoying.. without him, 3 1/2 stars..

when all is said and done, I'll buy all 6 episodes in a video bundle... the critics were right.. this one lacked two things.

1) character development.. you don't get to really "feel" for any of the characters like you did with Han Solo and Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader

2) Return of Jedi and now to Phantom Menace shows a clear direction toward pleasing the child audiences and not the adult audiences.

best wishes to all who see it.. it's still a good movie compared to others.. but falls short of George Lucas' abilities.

He scripted/casted the Jedi Knights very well.. young Anakin was good too.. Queen was good also.. but left me waiting for the next episode 2 to really feel complete.. I feel like I've just watched the first half of a movie and then someone turned off the film and said come back in 2002 to see the rest of it. I didn't feel that way with the other 3... though I did anticipate seeing the others.. but I didn't feel as though I was left hanging... those movies came full circle.
The other thing is George allowed a stupid creature/computer animation to be the sole humor of the film... whereas in the first two he put out it was Han Solo (a real human) with the humor.. return of jedi put humor in the Ewoks and Han Solo... now we're down to all humor in animated cartoon characters... special effects were awesome though.

If you liked Lost in Space, Godzilla, and Starship Troopers.. you'll like this one.. if not, sorry. This movie will make money. All Star Wars movies will make a fortune. But they'll make less if he doesn't turn things around and learn from this one.

ps.. Kimberly this is the Star Wars thread until monday morning right??? lol ; just kidding.. just wanted to share my opinion
