Since Steve is not feeding us with his comments and news, the thread is dying. Obviously, a number of us are tired of "good prospects" and no action on the stock. I am. But, i am still optimistic, even though the timing is disapponting. Now, if a correction is on the way, that will delay further any prospect for the stock. As the June 10 meeting approaches, i would expect more news like this one. Remember, Xylan purchase happened just before the annual results, as well as a landmark agreement with Motorola. I bet that there is a lot of pressure ti\o sign anything that can be concluded before the 10, rather than in one or two months. ALCATEL TO SELL THE EUROPEAN TRANSMISSION ASSETS OF DSC COMMUNICATIONS CORPORATION TO TELLABS, INC. Paris, 26 May 1999 – Alcatel and Tellabs, Inc., an American supplier of telecommunications equipment, have signed an agreement under which Alcatel is selling to Tellabs, Inc. the European transmission assets of the former DSC Communications Corporation for about $110 million (approximately EURO 104 million) payable in cash. Most of the former DSC assets sold to Tellabs are redundant with the synchronous and optical transmission activities in which Alcatel is both a technology innovator and the European and worldwide leader. This sale of redundant assets is part of Alcatel's continuing portfolio rationalization program. In the framework of this deal, both parties also entered into a patent cross-licensing agreement according to which the parties will license to one another their respective patents. In particular, Tellabs will benefit over the next four years of the patent licenses of Alcatel's extensive range of SDH, SONET and WDM technologies. Alcatel acquired DSC Communications Corporation in 1998 and has integrated its American activities within Alcatel USA.
