Welcome Back Dale! Switzerland. A beautiful country. I especially enjoyed the tiny mountain villages and staying in Gasthauses: Wengen, Grundewald etc. Hope to get back before too long. I enjoyed your latest in Tigerinvestor. As you know I have been investing somewhat "differently" than you. No denying your success though. I'm 100% cash over the weekend. The market is wandering and IMO is more likely short term to have a correction than a significant "up." So, for what I'm doing, I think it going to be a case of chasing the "story" of the moment, day or week, whether that be a co. or a sector. Some thoughts on a few co's--would like yours, Web, JSB, CCK Mama and anyone else: HAUP --looked at its fundamentals this weekend. Looks pretty good even after the runup. The ? that's being asked on the boards (or opinions given) is it just another flash in the pan with expensive technology that's already available, or is HAUP's light just beginning to shine? My guess is a big gap up first thing then selloff as profits taken off the table. Then? Anybody's guess. VRIO--It's been beaten down lately, probably on profit-taking and perceptions that its big debt load makes it ripe for difficulties in a rising interest rate environment. Looks like it's in a great position to capitalize on the best and most immediate part of broadband--service to small retailers. Long term should do well. VMIX--Received its prospectus two days after requesting it. Looks even better than Tae Kim says. 28% rev growth in the bricks and mortar end of distribution, 509% increase in online sales through likes of AMZN and new deal w/ Virgin. Why doesn't VMIX even have Profile on Yahoo? That's the bad news. Good news (maybe) is that VMIX will likely fly on word getting out through IBD of Bus Week ala MMPT or HAUP. What about MMPT? More legs? CIEN. Coming back to life with new contracts. Are new takeover rumors going to be the second stage rocket lighting off? BRCM--Supposedly great new broadband widget. Is it going to have another RMBS-like performance? Or just a flurry. MSGI--I wonder about all these holding cos, ala CMGI LPGL. They're great as long as the hi tech market is doing well, but I wonder about a slowdown in the IPO frenzy or an overall downturn. Seems like they will be especially vulnerable. Looking forward to your thoughts. Jim PS: AOL really sucks. Wrote this message once before. AOL kicked me offline because I was "inactive" even though I was typing message. When I follow Dales instructions to get broadband, I will be free of AOL's curse. Absolutely right that primary reason AOL continues to do well is the inertia by users against change. As long as AOL is barely good enough we put up with their busy signals, poor service, extraneous garbage that we have to wade through. There. Now I feel better after that rant. Now I think I'll load up the CD I got from MCI for its service. I get free frequen flyer miles too. Goody!
