Michael, most people seem to believe that NATO, Russia and the Serbs hold the key for the solution of the Kosovo crisis.

I believe the Kosovo ethnic Albanians hold the key to end the war. As long as their long term goal is to establish an independent Kosovo the war will continue for years even after NATO troops are stationed there and the Serb armed forces are driven out. When NATO leaves the Serbs will rush back in.

NATO claims that they are not supportive of an independent Kosovo. If that is true NATO could end this war very quickly by signing an agreement with Serbia guaranteeing that NATO will never allow Kosovo to become independent without the permission of Serbia. The KLA would then have to fight the Serbs and NATO which is not very likely to happen.
