Bill - great post. Indeed there are books out there which are worth the money, and it makes absolutely no sense to throw away thousands on useless seminars. I have not read the book by Elder, but I've heard good things about it by people I respect. I'll be very interested in the book you mentioned by Threei. The one trouble with books that go into specific trading strategies, is that sometimes the strategies are outdated by the time the book comes out - the market changes pretty rapidly (remember SOES?!). Still, a lot of valuable info can be had, so I'm looking forward to hearing more.

Good luck!

Morgan

>by a trader I know who is also a Russian emigrant. I've known him for two years, traded with him in various internet chatrooms, learned a lot from watching him. He is good. He doesn't know I'm mentioning him here, but I will say for those interested that his chatroom name is "Threei." - Bill

Interesting - I just finished Ken Wolff's free week and Threei is one of the monitors for him I believe - - and Ms. Dayne is doing class training for him!

"Trading for a Living" by Dr. Alexander Elder
I have had this book for about a year and a half but unfortunately I did not read it until about 4 months ago. I too have read it three times since.

On online course for short term trading is available for $80 at hardrightedge.com This is a POWERFUL SELF-DIRECTED SEMINAR.

The course interface consists of over 135 information screens, 500 illustrations, 2 hours of Real Audio and 60 interactive Chartlab exercises. IMHO this course beats any book or seminar hands down. You get 30 days access for $80 and can renew for an additional 30 days for $40 which I have done.

All course lectures feature Alan Farley, editor/publisher of The Hard Right Edge and a private, full-time trader and author residing in Denver, CO. His most recent longer publications include Momentum: Riding The Tiger, an in-depth analysis of how to profit from momentum and Time of Day, an hour-by-hour study of intra-day trend and reversal. In addition to writing, Alan is also a featured speaker on short term trading strategies and former staff member of CompuServe's Investor's Forum. He has been featured in Barrons, Smart Money magazine, Tech Week and TheStreet.com.
