I'm sure you're right, I was just being glib. I've tried alligator (tough and chewy), goat (nothing to write home about) , venison (got the worst food poisoning of my life from a piece of improperly dressed deer once), and many varieties of our feathered and finned friends but I'm not a frequenter of restaurants so I know I'm missing some chef's dandy recipes. And I won't eat baby anything, not lamb, not calf. In fact this whole yuppie snobbery of people feeding their dogs and cats chow with "lamb meat" is heinous to me. Much more so than the whale debacle. The whale got a taste of natural life, the poor lambs are being raised in a shamefully inhumane manner, and the practice of raising baby mammals to eat should be outlawed. What do you want to bet that Oprah Winfrey, who made such a big deal about not feeding herself any beef, feeds her pack of dogs kibble made with lamb? I don't eat meat heavily on a regular basis anyway but, As for mature beef cows: what else are you going to do with a dead cow---bury it? Might as well eat 'em before they get old enough for the coyotes to catch. Why leave all that good steak to the canines on the food chain? And don't even get me started on the way chickens are raised. Our whole food chain is in jeopardy. Did you know more cows are raised on feedlots in Florida now than on cattle farms with fields? Mass production has really brought out the SAVAGERY in the world, NOT gotten rid of it but exacerbated it. The natives have the right idea. The solution is not to stop the eating as the PETA extremists suggest, but to remain IN the food chain but respectfully and as thoughtfully as possible.
