My only point that it is drawing the heat off of 3dfx on the technical side and it'll hurt TnT2 Ultra sales from the hardcore crowd. It's nice to see the TnT2 suffering. The 50% hit for 32 bit is a big fownfall. I've been trying out Q3 (just for DD purposes of course <grin>) and framerate rules. My V3 does fine at 800x600 with tons of action and explosions.

You can "pick" the G400 all you want. Problem is you can't _buy_ it - not yet at least. Mike's point is well taken - there is a group of people that are now paralysized waiting for the "next big thing."

They were waiting to see if the TNT2 Ultra lived up to its claims. Now they need to see if the G400 is for real or not. They are under the mistaken impression that there will be a point in time when everything is known about all of the available chipsets and that they can make a purchase that will be "the best" for the next 8-12 months.

Clue==> It ain't gonna happen folks. <==Clue

Meanwhile, I'm having a ball with my V3 3000! By the time I upgrade it to the next great thing (3500, Rampage, who knows?) - I will have gotta more than enough value out of it.

BTW, turning off dynamic lighting in Q3Test did raise my lowest framerate by another 10 fps. Only in the worst situations does it dip below 35fps at 1024x768. Cool!

<<But all we have to do is look at ATI, Beta vs. VHS, Amiga vs.
PC, Lynx vs. Gameboy to know that technological superiority doesn't mean success. >>

Sure, and <<technological superiority>> is define as:

<<being able to play quake at 70fps in 640*480 in 16 bits, sorry but some of you guys are really loosing it>>
