LHSP General Meeting from Yahoo board General Meeting part I by: Ambiorixxx 7915 of 7956 Here's my promised highly personal report of the General Meeting of L&H on May 21, 1999. Some 250 stockholders were present, good for about 13 million shares (I was a shrimp swimming among whales ). Generally speaking I can highly recommend attending this Meeting. Why ? Read further. - I met some cyberfriends for the first time and noticed that to a high degree the meeting offers a reunion opportunity for old but distant friends - The meeting started with a company presentation videoclip, very lively with a catchy tune. I liked it and you will soon see it on the L&H website I heard. - Management analysed the 1998 results, but also looked forward to the future. The Intel joint-venture was stressed: together L&H and Intel will build the infrastructure (hard- and software) for e-commerce by thousands of other companies who will avoid an own internet-investment but pay a small commision on every sale. With e-commerce expected to grow to 8 % of all USA-business in 2005, this is a huge market. L&H will make it possible to find, order and get support by voice in almost any language for any item on the internet. - Announcements: Clarion and Pioneer will roll out car navigation system with L&H inside (I understood in 1999) and Olympus will bring a L&H powered dictation machine on the American market next month. The next generation of Sony Portables willl be so small they will not have a keyboard. - The medical dication market is very important because of the legal system in USA requiring transcripts of almost everything a doctor says. L&H is now market leader in this field by acquiring Articulate Systems. - Telecommunications: the company hopes to announce soon one or more deals with major players in this field comparable in importance to the MSFT and Intel deals. L&H is an attractive partner because it has all 4 core technologies (compression, TTS, STT and TTT) and is a technological leader in all 4 fields. For example length of training for STT has now been reduced to 5 minutes in lastest software versions. L&H leads in artificial intelligence solutions to speech technology (see Intel joint venture).
