CONTENT IS KING AND VDAT=CONTENT

Dow Jones Online News, Monday, May 24, 1999 at 01:20

Ralph Tasgal, Staff Reporter
NEW YORK -(Dow Jones)- Internet broadcaster Broadcast.com Inc., which
has agreed to be acquired by Yahoo! Inc., Sunday said it is teaming up
with Internet video content provider Visual Data Corp. to create an
online video travel channel, tentatively named
"virtualdestinations.com."
The channel, or World Wide Web site, expected to be launched in June,
will offer video tours and previews of hotels, resorts, time-share
properties, golf courses and other attractions.
Under the partnership, Visual Data (VDAT) will provide video for the
channel and will pay Broadcast.com (BCSI) an undisclosed sponsorship
fee.
Broadcast.com will put links on its home page, which boasts a million
hits a day, to the co-branded travel channel.
"The viewership is expected to be huge," Randy Selman, chief
executive of Pompano Beach, Fla.-based Visual Data, told Dow Jones
Newswires Sunday.
He's counting on dramatically increasing the exposure Visual Data
gets for its clients by 10 times the current average of 500,000 to 1
million hits a week. The added Web presence will enable Visual Data to expand its client base and enhance earnings and revenue within a few months of the launch of the channel, Selman said.
For the year ended Sept. 30, 1998, Visual Data posted a loss of $3.4
million, or $1.06 a share, on revenue of $1.9 million.
Visual Data will provide content from the video libraries it has been
building since the company began operations in 1993. Its film is shot
specifically for online distribution and edited into segments two to
three minutes long for viewing.
The company's current library of video includes HotelView,
AttractionView, ResortView and DestinationView. Visual Data will also
produce new content for cruise ships, sports facilities and other
places, as dictated by viewer demand, Selman said.
"The travel channel will create additional revenue opportunities for
both companies and the travel category," Broadcast.com Chairman and
President Mark Cuban said. Broadcast.com, which will own the travel channel, will get the revenue from advertising on the site. Visual Data will receive the advertising dollars once viewers link to its sites and video.
Dallas-based Broadcast.com posted a loss of $16.4 million, or $1.03 a
share, on revenue of $22.3 million in 1998. Broadcast.com had said last month that Yahoo's (YHOO) acquisition of the company will boost growth, leading to a greater customer base for Broadcast.com's business services and multimedia-advertising systems.
The companies will also make money through booking fees, sponsorships
and through other travel services.
Visual Data provides corporate video, as well as video for the
health-care industry, but these aren't included in the Broadcast.com
agreement. Selman said Visual Data is working on partnerships with other companies to disseminate this video.

Well VDATTER's the fun has started. The BCST/YHOO deal will bring a
million hits a day to the viewers of VDAT's link. The branding and
visibility this gives the company is apparent. What it also gives is the company a model to show portals how their specific content and
production capabilities is good for the site and oh BTW it is good for
VDAT.
I believe as stated in above release there are several more deals in the making that will include partnering with the biggest names in broadband.
We will also get our equity partners(s) once the underlying value of VDAT is more realistically reflected in the market cap of the company. I will not mention names as we have all heard the "rumors" for some time." I would encourage those who think that this runup is like the pre-CNBC interview [which saw the stock soar only to pull back] must remember that this new deal adds a tremendous amount of visibilaty to VDAT and that coverage and other deals will bring alot of new investors and newly broadbanded eyes to see VDAT, the only exclusively broadband production company and owner and creator of unique content.

long and getting longer:)
