Not paying eBay....

If it were that big a hole in their model, then where is all that
revenue coming from, huh? Are you suggesting that they are
making up numbers for SEC? I don't think so, friend.

If you had ever been in business for yourself, you would learn quickly
that you never bite the hand that feeds you. The better you are
to ebay, the better your rating will be. You'll never sell long
term with a continuous 0 rating.

When you have an eBay account eBay charges a $10 to your credit card to check out it out, or you have to send them $10. The only way you can avoid paying eBay is if you put a high reserve on an item and it "doesn't sell", and then you sell it after the auction and eBay doesn't get a commission, they just get there listing fee (usually their max of $2). If you do this you really don't know how high the bidder was willing to go. I also feel that you encourage competitive bidding when you have a low reserve because people then know they aren't wasting their time bidding because the person has some inflated idea of price. The majority of the serious bidders bid in the last minutes and it the reserve isn't met, then it is annoying waiting around a bid at the last minute.
So many of my associates are happy with eBay, and the commission is so low there is no reason to "cheat" eBay. Finally there is an easy way to liquidate art and antiques at low commissions. Commission on $3000 is only $50.63. Normal auctions houses would charge around 25% ($750). What a difference and using eBay you get your money a lot faster. It is not worth the hassle to cheat eBay and it is not worth the risk of getting caught. I would want to start over again! It takes a lot of work and time to get you feedback # up!
ALSO!!! THIS MAY BE NEW NEWS TO ALL... Ebay is introducing a powerseller program. ebay.com I am excited about this because I always guarantee my items, but now eBay will put a special icon by my name saying I am a good seller to deal will!
