If you let Brinker influence your decisions, I sincerely hope that your faith that he will look out for your interests turns out to be justified.

In any case, he may well be a valuable information source to be used in making decisions.

Peace,
Ian.

Ian: Re: "Do you really believe that anyone (i.e. Bob Brinker) can consistently timethe market? I realize that that question is blasphemous on this thread, but I've never seen anyone successfully time it twice. ;-)"

Justa: Yes, God can but he does not do market timing <g>. But I attach much more weight to Brinker's analysis than my own because he will tell me what he sees and not what I necessarily may want to hear.
-------------------------------------------------------------------

I have not decided what I will do. I DO know that I have gone from 97% or so in equities in Oct 1998 to 78% today as I take profits almost every day the DOW hits a new high. Some profits have gone back in, but the general trend has been to lighten up in ever increasing valuations. (I LOVE selling into strength) I call it my variable asset allocation due to market level (or risk).

To me, the issue of what to do if Bob gives a sell signal depends on many other factors. What are Abby, Joe B, Laslo B, and, yes, even RalphA and ElaineG saying? Do I read the tea leaves the same way Bob does, etc. etc.? What if a perenial bear like Gail the WallStreet honey bear chucks in the towel and goes neutral? Contrarian indicator?

One thing for sure, it makes sense to think about it now and plan what you MIGHT do so if the sell signal comes or your own gut tells you to lighten up. Thus you are ready and don't go into a panic mode if you get Bob's sell signal!
