In a rather bizarre way, I find these drops somewhat comforting, and the inexplicable 50 point runups disconcerting. Every time the inets have a huge run, something akin to a child playing king of the hill, I see all pundits trying to shove them off, gleeful in the hope that they will fall long and hard. This bothers me greatly.

When they fall, there's a sense that they are bargains to be snapped up. The same pundits, CNBC aside, talk about being oversold and values. I'm still bothered, but only because I find the pundits rather annoying, but far less so than before.

Not that down is a good thing, but perhaps under the theory that its always darkest before the storm.
