MATR Matria Healthcare Launches NetNurse(SM) Innovative Web-Based Healthcare Information Line
Thursday May 27, 7:30 am Eastern Time

Company Press Release

New Service Offers Consumers Powerful Combination of Online and Phone Support for Healthcare Information Questions

MARIETTA, Ga., May 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Matria Healthcare, Inc. (Nasdaq: MATR - news) announced today the launch of NetNurse. The 24-hour, 365-day-a-year service will enable healthcare consumers to access through a separate Matria Web site, www.netnurse.com , healthcare information and receive immediate responses to follow-up questions from a qualified nurse via phone. Matria will also make its NetNurse service available through a consumer healthcare Web site operated by WebMD Inc. at www.webmd.com .

Through NetNurse, consumers will be able to log their inquiries electronically and receive a response by phone within one hour from a Matria nurse specializing in the area of interest. This pioneering new service is an interactive complement to the existing broad array of information on health and medical issues currently available on both companies' consumer-oriented Web sites. While both Matria and WebMD offer healthcare information free of charge on their consumer sites, responses to inquiries via NetNurse will be provided for a moderate fee.

The initial focus of NetNurse will be pregnancy-related issues. NetNurse will add new topical areas in the near future, such as women's health, pediatrics, diabetes and respiratory-related issues.

Donald R. Millard, Matria's President and Chief Executive Officer said: ''This strategic partnership will enhance our disease management continuum through increased communication among patients, payors and Matria's nurses. Together, WebMD and Matria will be able to offer a more convenient and efficient interactive medium that will provide reliable healthcare information and ultimately improve health outcomes. With NetNurse, Matria has another service to offer self-insured employers and managed care organizations to manage cost, quality, and now, the accessibility of healthcare. We anticipate NetNurse to generate over 500,000 visitors during its first year of operation, resulting in over 100,000 returned calls and revenue transactions.''

Millard continued, ''NetNurse gives healthcare consumers the best of all worlds -- the breadth and depth of trustworthy information available from Matria and WebMD, and Internet immediacy and interactivity, combined with the expertise, reliability, and 24-hour availability of Matria's nurses for follow-up and support. This service will offer healthcare consumers the assurance that they can gain rapid access to high-quality information day or night, further empowering them to make informed decisions about their healthcare in partnership with their care-givers.''

The availability of NetNurse on the WebMD site as well as on Matria's site builds on the two companies' existing partnership, whereby Matria made a strategic investment for beneficial ownership of 400,000 shares in WebMD and provides WebMD with women's health content. Last week, WebMD announced that it has entered into a merger agreement with Healtheon Corporation to form WebMD/Healtheon. If WebMD's merger with Healtheon Corporation is effected, Matria's stake will be converted into over 750,000 shares of Healtheon/WebMD. NetNurse would be integrated into the services offered by the combined companies

NetNurse technology services will be provided by Atlanta based Computer Generation Incorporated, a leader in the implementation and operation of e-commerce and network based solutions.

Matria Healthcare, Inc. is the leading provider of comprehensive disease management services to health plans and employers for women's health and the chronic conditions of diabetes, cardiovascular disease and respiratory disorders.
